J-2 dependents of teachers in J-1 visa status are sometimes allowed to accompany them to live in the US.  Note Cordell Hull Foundation policy: Are family members allowed to accompany me to the U.S.?

Here is the process:

1. The school or district supervisor submits the CHF Roster, listing the J-2 dependents at the bottom of the table.
2. Send the passports of the J-2 dependents (spouse or child) to support@cordellhull.net.
3. CHF will send an invoice for $300 for spouse and $200 per child for the first year of sponsorship, when requesting dependents to join the teacher after s/he has arrived in the US.
4. The sponsorship fee for dependents is due to the Cordell Hull Foundation annually, each year that they remain living with the J-1 teacher in the US.

CHF will check the ages of the children and the cost of living in the region where the teacher is going to see if the salary is sufficient to support all dependents, and conduct due diligence.  Maximum of three J-2 dependents are allowed.
